This is a brand new Empi assembled kit featuring dual Brosol/Solex 40mm carbs w/o electric chokes, cast Empi aluminum manifolds, chrome top air cleaners with washable gauze filters and aluminum bar linkage rods.
Kit is complete with quality hardware, gaskets, fittings, hoses and instructions.
For all dual port upright engines 1600cc up to let's say 1776cc*. These are best for the street. Also called Kadron's.
We have installed several of these kits, one of which is shown here. If all you do is follow the instructions, you can't go wrong, with the exceptions I note here.
In one case, the engine had an alternator style fuel pump on it with a dome style top. We had to clearance the upright brace that allows the linkage to pivot, so it wouldn't hit the pump. We took off JUST what was needed, I recommend you do the same. We used more fuel line than the kit comes with because I believe it is important to center mount the fuel "t" between the carbs.
On the cross linkage, just a note. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the little lock nuts or you'll surely break the threads. I recommend loctite.
The crossbar rods have a ball pivot on them on the 3-4 side. That should point straight up when the linkage is tight and set on both the carbs.
Put the air cleaner posts on JUST before installing the filters, not at the beginning like the instructions say.
Leave the air filters off until you have run your engine through it's paces, so you don't have to remove them to make idle mix or idle jet adjustments.
On one engine, we set the idles speed screws to contact and then ONE TURN IN. The car started (after filling the bowls) right up and idles perfectly. Done! On another engine, we had to open the idles up to 60's and then it ran like a top too.
*This kit comes jetted for a basically stock 1600cc engine. Using on anything else may require a mechanic to correctly jet it.
