Empi packaged shift coupling for shift rod on bugs 65 on, type 3 & bus 68-79
Urethane kit - not vw stock.
This installs with a pass through shaft & lag bolt* and a pointed locate bolt.
Install tip #1:
I warm the urethane square inserts with a hair dryer to make them easier to squeeze into the metal cage (with pliers).
I've never sold any one person this coupler twice for the same car.
Install tip #2:
If the cage won't fit over the end of your shift shaft, grind or file away a tad on both sides of the shaft opening like we show here.
*The lag bolt however is a ONE time install bolt. If you need to take it back off, you'll need to go to the hardware store and buy another bolt.
