Although made in China, these are made exclusively for Empi from exact copies of oem drums and then meticulously inspected for quality before production.
Measures 1 9/16" deep (shoe surface)
The cast 'design' inside the drum may be slightly different than your old drum. This difference may cause you to have to shorten the length of the pin that holds the spring and cap, that holds the brake shoe on.
You can 'shorten' the pin by removing it from the backing plate and inserting a small washer over it. Now, install it and the spring and cap. You have just shortened your pin by the dimension of the washer you used.
Install the drum and tighten your axle nut.
If you can't spin the drum without it contacting the cap/spring assembly, you will need to add another washer. Doing so will make it harder to install the cap, but it will allow you the clearance you need.
Another option is to grind away the material that is the 'cast in design'. We don't recommend this.
