This car was a late friends of mine, that was a bit of a car collector.
Full time since new, Pahrump, Nevada car. No rust anywhere.
He bought it new in September 1998 (1999 model year) and only drove it occasionally over the 20 years he owned it.
Mostly it sat in his garage.

Long version of Beetlemex story here:
To make a Mexican beetle legal in the United States, Juan from Nogales started Beetlemex and contacted our DMV. Dmv said they only need a previously registered in the US pan beneath the new Mexican bug to make it legal to register in the US.
Juan made a deal with Mexico to ship new bugs to them, where they would then remove EVERYTHING from the pan and then send the pan back to Mexico to be reused.
Then, the previously registered US pan, totally refurbished to new condition by Beetlemex, in my case, a 1976, is assembled using the new parts from the other and other new parts.
Then, the new car, in my case, a 1999, is lowered onto the pan. Voila a new 1976 legal in the US bug.
