The following comment is a note from Phil for your consideration: On a recent demonstration of the rpm capabilities of one of our engines, we had a brand new, stock, vw, doghouse style, fan blow apart at 6,500 rpm. The explosion destroyed the brand new chrome fan shroud, came damn close to sending a loose fan blade right through my hand & caused an hours worth of work to clean up the mess. From now on, we'll be using Scat welded & balanced & coated doghouse style fans on ALL of our engines that are capable of over 5,500 rpm. |
