When you crawl under your car to adjust your clutch, you see the cable going through the clutch release lever. This spring is what snaps that lever back upright when you take your foot off the clutch pedal.
This spring has a diameter inside the coil of greater than 1 1/2".
Empi says the spring has a diameter inside the coil of less than 1 1/2" (1.428").
This fits bug & Ghia IRS transmissions 71 to 74.
