We installed this wheel in a 72 bug. Here are some notes of interest on that install:
The wheel comes with instructions for install.
The wheel comes with 2 horn button caps. One is Scat, the other is the Wolfsburg crest.
Our brand new turn signal assembly and probably your turn signal assembly, has a brass colored ground contact for the horn to work. That contact needs to touch the bright center section of the wheel. Our contact did not touch the bright part. It touched the black outer part of the wheel and as such, the horn could not work.
We added a small spring to the brass colored ground contact and held it in place with a touch of black silicone. On assembly of the wheel, the spring made contact with the bright center section of the wheel and the horn now honks like a Canadian goose in heat. |
