The following comment is a note from Phil for your consideration: On a recent demonstration of the rpm capabilities of one of our engines, we had a brand new, stock fat fan blow apart* at 6,500 rpm. The explosion destroyed the brand new chrome fan shroud, came damn close to sending a fan blade right through my hand, bent up the brand new chrome backing plates at the alternator & caused an hour worth of work to clean up the mess. From now on, we'll be using welded & balanced fans on ALL of our engines that are capable of over 5,500 rpm.
