The opening at the flange is 2 3/8".
This header accepts the single and dual quiet pack mufflers and the single glass pack muffler with the large 3 bolt pattern in 12:00 position.

Shown on a 2052cc engine we installed into a Thing*. Due to the dual carb set up and no heat risers, we stuck bolts into the heat riser holes and welded them** (see top pic).
Also note that we have welded flanges on this header to bolt up to the pre-flanged J-tubes we use from Empi.
We then paint over the welded area with 1000 degree aluminum bar-b-que paint for a finished look.
*Installation of this header may not be possible in a Thing without removing the bumper first.
We've noticed that when installing a header, it's sometimes best to also buy a new rear tin without fresh air hose holes in it. Then we bore our own holes right where we want them for better curvature around the header for the fresh air hose.
**If you don't weld, you will need a heat riser block off set if you are not using heat risers.
Empi says that you should warm up and then allow a cool down period on any ceramic coating to "season" the ceramic prior to reaching any high rpm/temps. Otherwise some blemishing may occur. |
