This swivel joint can be used for a steering shaft swivel u-joint application I suppose (1 customer of mine said it'd be great), but it is really intended to fit on the end of the shift rod and into the coupler on the selector shaft of your trans if you have a rear engine rail with the pictured shifter kit (not included).
