When you take off your dust cap or grease cap on your early bug front wheel, you'll see the 2 nuts holding the front drum on.
Between the 2 nuts, you'll see this washer or lock plate.
Lock plate w/ bend tabs for front spindle nut for bug 50-65, ghia 56-65.
My personal experience with THIS lock plate, supplied by Premium Quality, is that the engagement tab is about 1mm too wide and needs to be trimmed to fit the engagement slot on top of your spindle.
I trim it with electrical dikes.
